  • Strength to Strength

    Thu 18 Dec 2014

The Dassett School continues to go from strength to strength, as the recent national performance tables issued by the DfE demonstrate – we were just 0.1 average point score away from the top 200 primary schools in the country and joint 11th of all the Primary Schools in Warwickshire. We are so proud of this achievement but we are only beginning our journey and are continually seeking ways to further improve these exceptional results.

  • Maths Challenge Day

    Wed 17 Dec 2014

We have been fortunate enough to have been given a grant for £500 from the Royal Institution and STEMNET to hold a Maths Challenge Day in school with an external provider, ‘Maths in a Suitcase’. It will provide hands on experiments and activities that are suitable for all age ranges, abilities, experience or gender. The hands on style ensure the exhibits attract, engage and extend - everyone has the opportunity to participate. This Maths Challenge Day will be happening on Monday 12th January all day and Tuesday 13th January in the morning. After school on Monday 12th January parents are invited to join us for a free parent and child session, which should be great fun and a super opportunity for you to work with your child on some great puzzles and challenges. Just come along. Thank you to Mr. McMahon for arranging this.

  • Healthy Snack Shop COMPETITION

    Tue 16 Dec 2014

We are starting up a break time Snack Stall which will sell Healthy Snacks and will be run by the children. We need a name, logo or character for this snack stall and this is where you come in. Over the holiday we would like as many children as possible to have a go at designing a logo or character and thinking of a short snappy name for the snack stall. The winner’s design will be professionally made into a sign for the stall.

  • Brilliant Baubles

    Thu 11 Dec 2014

What a treat we all had on Tuesday and Wednesday night as our Year 1 and 2 pupils shone in their performance of their Nativity play ‘Baubles’. The singing was magnificent and the acting very confident and impressive as the Christmas Story was told through a set of school children, Mr. Potts their hardworking caretaker and some beautiful mysterious Christmas baubles.

Members of the audience were amazed and it was easy to forget that the performers were so young.

An enormous thank you to the children, staff and parents for their efforts in making this superb production such a success.

Mr. Baxter is busy working on the CD as you read this – if you wanted to reserve one and did not please let Mrs. Hine know.

  • Clubs - Spring Term

    Tue 09 Dec 2014

Listed are the many varied and exciting extra-curricular opportunities for your children for the Spring Term. Some children may already have been attending clubs, however, new members are very welcome. The costs shown below are for the entire term (8 weeks) unless specified. Also, if your child is eligible for free school meals and would like to join any of the fee paying clubs, please contact Mrs Hine to discuss how the school can support you with this, as we want to ensure that all children have an equal opportunity in all that we offer. Clubs will start during the week of Monday 12th January until the week beginning Monday 9th March.

If your child would like to attend any of the clubs please complete the attached slip(s) (one slip per child) and return to school by Friday 12th December. Extra reply slips are available on the school website Clubs Page as is a weekly overview of the clubs on offer. We will let you know whether your child has been allocated a place on Tuesday 6th January. We will then ask for payment where appropriate – Please do not send any money now.

    Many thanks

  • What a Night!

    Sat 06 Dec 2014

The lights sparkled and the crowds came!

Our Fabulous Christmas Fayre took place last night and it was an enormous success, being opened by the angelic voices of our Singing Club led by Gail Bater. Santa Claus arrived with his trusty reindeer to be greeted by lots of excited children and he looked very comfortable in his magnificent grotto. The Christmas Avenue leading into the school was truly magical and hosted a super variety of local businesses and crafts, from scarves and jewellery to log reindeers, paintings to honey and toiletries to books.

Having a winter barbecue was a welcome addition to the fayre and as usual the food was delicious. The hot dogs went down a treat and our thanks go to Dave and his wife for their support for the school.

Inside the school there was a lovely atmosphere, as people won tombola prizes, enjoyed mulled wine and mince pies, joined in with the crafts on offer and tried to guess names of teddies and ‘Where in the World Santa was’. Well done to Zach (Y2) and Henry (Y5) who guessed correctly and won the prizes.

The raffles offered wonderful prizes and a stunning Christmas Cake donated by the ‘Looby Loo Cake Company’.

As usual ‘The Friends of The Dassett’ provided an event which was second to none. We are so fortunate to have this dedicated group of parents who spent the whole day preparing the school, as well as many months beforehand organising the event. The funds raised are invaluable to the school and your children and so the final thanks goes to you all for coming along, braving the cold and wholeheartedly giving your support.

    MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU ALL.
