  • Support Needed for the New Play Equipment

    Fri 23 May 2014

The Parish Council is applying for funding to improve the provision of play equipment at the Playing Field for the over-8s.  They are trying to provide more of the items which the children said they would like when they asked them to complete questionnaires through the school in 2011. They would be very grateful if any parents from the school could write a letter of support, and, as they are looking for nearly £50k, the more the better!

However, time is of the essence! In this case they are having to route the application through a third party, and, due to the deadline they have to meet, they really need to send letters to them by the beginning of next week at the latest. Therefore could any letters be sent to Mike Davies on the following e-mail address: Mike.Davies@fennycompton-pc.gov.uk

  • Poetry Competition

    Thu 22 May 2014

We are delighted to invite your students to submit entries for this year’s Post-a-Poem for Shakespeare event as part of the 61st Stratford Poetry Festival! Each child is invited to submit a poem inspired by our special themes. For Key Stage One and Two the theme this year is Rivers, Canals and boats – as our poet in residence this year is Jo Bell, who is the UK’s Canal Laureate, appointed by the Poetry Society and the Canal and River Trust and who lives on a narrowboat! What might life be like living on a river? What wildlife do we see? How do rivers and canals make us feel? What do rivers and canals do for people? Work? Rest? Beauty? Inspiration?....

Fifty of the entries will be chosen by a panel including Jo Bell for display on the railings of Shakespeare’s Birthplace on 9th July. The fifty selected poets will be invited along with two guests to hear their poems being read by actors on the same evening at 6.00pm here at the Shakespeare Centre. Another exciting development this year is the display of all the KS 1 and 2 entries at Stratford River Festival, which takes place on the Stratford Recreation Ground on 4/5/6 July

The deadline for entries is Friday 6th June

It is important that each poem is identifiable by the contributor’s full name, age and the name of your school, so that we can contact you if it has been selected.

Please send your poems to: Post-a-Poem, The Shakespeare Centre, Henley Street, Stratford-upon-Avon, CV37 6QW by Friday 6th June.

  • Plant, Cake and Book Sale a Huge Success

    Sun 18 May 2014
The sun shone, the temperatures soared and the people came to bag a bargain. The donations of plants created a fabulous range of flowers and vegetables and they were snapped up quickly. Delicious cakes were consumed and purchased and the selection of books, both second hand and new from 'Connor's Cove' were impressive. The craft table was very busy as children painted their own plant pot and the bouncy castle provided plenty of fun and well.....bouncing!
The art competition entries created a fabulous display and were of a really high standard showing off huge talent. The prizes will be awarded on Monday in assembly.
Thank you to everyone who came to this annual event and to The Friends' for their fabulous efforts in raising funds for the school and its pupils.
