  • Arts Week

    Fri 18 Oct 2013

It has been a truly amazing Arts ‘Week’ and children have thoroughly enjoyed themselves, as well as learning many new techniques and skills in different genres of art. There has been fabric painting, collage, cutting, folding, clay work, I Pad Animations, wire animals, papier mache and kaleidoscope, making to name but a few.

The school has been a hive of activity based on our theme of ‘Creation’ and it has seemed as though every available corner in the school has had some element of art taking place – with life-size model birds being constructed at one end of the Big Workroom and an environmental collage appearing at the other, an African Creation Story and fabulous tray garden designs in the corridors as well as acrylic bunches of flowers and a whole school tree bursting into life in the hall - it has been such an exciting and energetic place to be!

A massive thank you must go to the parents who gave up their time to run workshops with groups of children and to our fabulous staff team, who thought about and prepared all of the wonderful activities, running each with amazing enthusiasm – Reception, Year 1 and 2 pupils have all worked together on art linked to land, sea and air whilst Year 3 have taken flight with the theme of ‘Birds’. Year 4 have created very realistic papier mache vegetables and Year 5 have imagined and created their own worlds! Year 6 pupils spent a morning being taught clay modeling by Mr. Stather from Kineton High School with two sixth form assistants, and we are always delighted to work with the staff from our wonderful neighbouring school. It is greatly appreciated.

The final thank you should, of course, go to the children who have participated so brilliantly in all of the activities and giving everything a go (the words “I can’t” were banned!) and working together with superb collaborative skills to produce artwork of exceptional quality. It has been an absolute pleasure to witness all of the creativity within school and a joy to behold the moments where children have realised that “Actually, I can...” and have felt incredibly proud of themselves.

All of the stunning creations will be on display at our Annual Arts Exhibition on the evening of Friday 8th and the morning of Saturday 9th November and we can’t wait to see every aspect brought together in one place.
Refreshments will be available whilst you view the art on display - it is an event not to be missed – parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and family friends are all most welcome to this extravaganza, so please put the date in your diary now.
We look forward to seeing lots of you there.

  • Homeward Bound

    Fri 18 Oct 2013

Recently we have had a couple of occasions where children have been confused about home time arrangements or parents have had to make changes in arrangements and forgotten to inform school. The best way to do this is by either sending in a note or writing it into the green communications book.  It is also becoming increasingly difficult for children and staff to see their parent at the end of the day, due to the numbers of people congregating in one place, and so we have decided to trial a system whereby children do not all leave school through one exit and parents do not all wait in the same area. Staff will only let the children leave when they have seen the appropriate parent/carer and parents should wait in the correct area to collect their youngest child, before then collecting their older children.

From this coming Monday (21st) Reception children will be brought to the front door and parents can wait along the front path. Year 1, 2 and 3 children will wait in their classrooms and their parents should wait along the back path opposite their child’s class, so that they can be seen clearly by the children and staff alike. Children will be sent out through their external classroom doors. Year 4, 5 and 6 pupils will exit through the usual door and parents should wait on the lower playground. If parents are happy for their child to walk home unaccompanied then please inform the class teacher in writing. Our sports teachers will also be made aware of this change in arrangements and these alterations will also help when a supply teacher is dismissing the children.

We really appreciate your support with this initiative to help ensure the safety of the children.

  • Reporting Absence

    Fri 11 Oct 2013
As there have been lots of viruses around at the moment I thought it may be helpful to remind you of the procedure for letting us know about your child’s absence. Please phone the school prior to 9am to inform us of your child’s absence. This needs to be done on every day of their absence unless it is a medical procedure that we have received written information about in advance. Also please remember to check on the website regarding the period of absence required for different illnesses. Also, if your child is sent home poorly from school after 10.30am and they have ordered a cooked school lunch, this will not be able to be refunded as it will already have been included in the quantities prepared. Similarly, if you know your child is going to be late due to a medical appointment and would like a cooked lunch, please let us know their choice by 9.30am.
  • Mollington Bus Route Change

    Sun 06 Oct 2013

We have been informed about a school bus route road closure in Mollington starting tomorrow, Monday 7th Oct for up to 5 days.  This may affect the time the bus arrives at school and on the route home too.

Although it's a very small section of road being closed, the bus will have to go Shotteswell, Warmington, Mollington, but then back towards Warmington and along to Farnborough (rather than along the Southam/Banbury A423 Road), and then to Avon Dassett and Fenny. Please be aware of the slight time difference.
