Our Teaching Staff
Mr Dan Hackett - Assistant Head Teacher Year 5/6, SEND, Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, English, PSHE
I am looking forward to my second year, working with Year 5 and 6 at The Dassett. I have been a teacher for eleven years now, eight of which I have worked with upper Key Stage 2. As a teacher, I value not only academic progress but love seeing children gain in confidence as they head through their primary school journey. My favourite subjects to teach are Geography, PE and English. Outside of school, I love all sports particularly cricket which I spend most of my weekends playing. I also love football and am a huge supporter of the finest team in the Midlands- Aston Villa. My wife and I have a little boy named Teddy, who has just turned eighteen months and we love spending time with him and our mischievous cockapoo named Lennie!
Mrs Claire Griffiths Year 1/2, Computing, Art & Design
I am really excited to be teaching year 1/2. This is my second year of teaching and my first in Key Stage 1. In my spare time, I enjoy playing hockey and spending time with my friends. I have 2 cats called Rodger and Terry who are full of mischief. Within the classroom, my aim is to create a positive and happy learning environment to allow children to excel.
Mr Spencer Foyle Year 3/4, PE, ICT
I have been a primary school teacher since 2005. (Prior to that, I worked in industry for ten years.) Married with two children (a son at university and a daughter in Year 11), my family also includes Reginald the dog and Willis, the rabbit. My hobbies are hiking, yoga (in which I have just qualified as a teacher), theatre and reading. Education wise, I am interested in contributing to development of well-rounded, confident, happy children. I also volunteer for the local children's wellbeing and mentoring charity: Lifespace.
Mrs Olivia Whatcott EYFS
I am thrilled to be the Reception class teacher at The Dassett. I have worked in Early Years since 2010, the last 7 years being in Reception. Early years is my passion and I am very much looking forward to starting your child’s learning journey with them as they begin primary school. Providing a safe, stimulating environment, both inside and outside, where children can thrive and achieve their full potential is fundamentally important to me. I have 3 teenage children and together with Mr. Whatcott we love being outside, especially if it involves kayaking and camping!
Mrs Rosalind Proudfoot Year 5/6, Science Lead
My name is Mrs Proudfoot and after being here last year it's really lovely to be back working at the Dassett. I've been teaching for about ten years and have taught across all year groups but mostly year 5 and 6. I especially enjoy teaching science and getting children involved in as much practical science as possible. My husband and I have two children (aged 6 and very nearly 3) and we all enjoy getting outdoors and exploring (and finding a nice slice of cake somewhere).
