  • Parents' Evening

    Thu 19 Nov 2015

Thank you for such high attendance at Parents’ Evening. They were later in the term this year due to parent feedback in the end of year questionnaire. We hope they were helpful and that the target sheets you were given will help you to keep informed about the progress your child is making and the areas they need to focus on. You will receive these each half term as we complete them. The codes on the targets are – blank (not taught this year so far), dot (taught but not understood), half tick/slash (taught and partially understood), tick (fully understood). If you are unsure of some of the terminology, definitions can be found in the Literacy/Numeracy sections of the curriculum part of the website.

  • Poetry Books for Sale

    Thu 19 Nov 2015

A few parents have asked me whether they could get hold of a copy of the Southam Lions’ Poetry book which has all of the poems our children entered into the recent competition. If you are also interested in this they are available at a cost of £5 from the Lions, but I am happy to call them and get them sent to school. Please send in cash or a cheque made payable to Southam Lions in an envelope marked Southam Lions Poetry Book and the name of your child. Thank you.

  • Anti-Bullying Week

    Wed 18 Nov 2015

It has been anti-bullying week this week and we spent our assembly on Monday thinking about what bullying really is, using the Anti Bullying Alliance definition that bullying is ‘the repetitive, intentional hurting of one person or group by another person, where the relationship involves an imbalance of power.’ The children really thought carefully about what this would look and feel like and realised that they often use the word ‘bullying’ when they have actually just had a falling out with their friends and that sometimes parents do too. We will be sending home some further information about this in the near future.

  • Christmas Fayres (and Santa) are Coming

    Thu 12 Nov 2015

On Saturday 21st November the Fenny Compton Christmas Fayre, in aid of Cancer Research UK and CLIC Sargent children’s cancer care charity, is taking place. If anyone wishes to donate items for the stalls please contact either Gay (770982) or Suzanne (770243). Father Christmas will be opening the Fayre at 2pm.

Also the popular “Lights for Life” initiative is back again this year and will be launched at the Christmas Fayre at the village hall at 2pm on 21st November.  Further details at the Fayre.  The tree will be outside the Merrie Lion for lighting up on 28th November at 5 pm.

On Friday 27th November it is our school Christmas Fayre. Father Christmas will be opening the Fayre  before making his way to his grotto so that he can meet you, and our singing club members will be performing at the beginning of the Fayre.

There are lots of exciting stalls planned including our amazing 'Christmas Avenue' of local Crafts and gifts which make super presents. With a chocolate, bottle and traditional tombola, there really is something for everyone.

We  look forward to seeing you all to support The Friends of The Dassett at this annual highlight in our fundraising calendar.
