  • Please Sir, I Want Some More

    Wed 19 Dec 2012

We had a fabulous time on Wednesday lunchtime as the Traditional Christmas lunch of turkey and stuffing, potatoes and vegetables and gravy was served to many of our pupils. There was Christmas music to accompany the diners and the children all looked magnificent in their homemade Christmas hats and crowns that they had made during the morning.
An enormous thank you to Pam and her team for the absolutely totally terrific job they did in preparing and serving these meals. There were so many comments about how delicious it was and we are very lucky to have such a friendly and talented group of people in our kitchen.

  • Sharing Our Learning

    Tue 18 Dec 2012

    WOW!
The hall was buzzing on Tuesday morning, as parents and grandparents of children in Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 came into school to see the children’s fabulous range of home learning projects that had been completed.
They were also provided with refreshments of tea, coffee and mince pies which the children had been baking on the previous day (delicious!). It was really super to hear the children discussing and sharing their work with their parents and we received lots of positive feedback.
Another huge thank you to Mrs Moll, Miss Gasson, Miss Letchford and Mr Hann for organising this great end of term event.

  • Christmas Giving

    Tue 18 Dec 2012
Ben P in Year 6, ably assisted by Ben L, drew the winning tickets for the raffle that he has been organising in aid of a children’s cancer ward in Leicester Hospital and the ‘Ourspace’ Appeal. Ben P also very generously donated a second prize– a jar of Quality Street that he had been given. The second prize was won by Mrs Caley and the first prize of the knitted post box filled with sweets was won by Ellie Goldsmith.
A huge thank you to you all, for your generosity in buying tickets. Ben has managed to raise just over £100 for the charity to help children which is fantastic!
Well done Ben for being so thoughtful and thinking of those who may be not be enjoying such a happy Christmas as us.
  • School Crosses

    Tue 18 Dec 2012
Christmas is a time for giving and we have been delighted to receive a wonderful gift of three handcrafted, stunning 4 and 3 foot wooden crosses for the exterior of the school building. These were lovingly created and donated by Mr Graham Brown, an octogenarian who lives in Mrs Hine’s village, and we are extremely grateful for his generosity. Some children have already brought me thank you notes for me to pass onto Graham and if there are any more then I will take them to him at the end of term. Mr Maries has put these up by the three entrances into school. Please come and have a look, I am sure they will take your breath away, they are truly beautiful and we are delighted to have them as visual examples of the Christian identity of the school.
  • For One Night Only

    Tue 18 Dec 2012
The Dassett Reception children performed their hearts out at our Reception Nativity. They narrated the entire story of the first Christmas by heart (and in rhyme too!) and raised the roof with their amazing singing. The costumes looked wonderful and it was easy to forget the ages of the youngest children in our school, such was the confidence with which they performed. There were lots of extremely proud people in the room and we thank the children, Miss Gasson, Mrs Harris and Mrs Hambidge for their hard work in making it such a memorable evening.
    More photos to follow.

  • Nativity for the Over 60s

    Mon 17 Dec 2012
We were delighted to welcome members of the Fenny Compton Over 60s Club, our Friends and Reading Helpers, children and staff from Abacus as well as all of the children in our school, to the afternoon performance of The Nativity by our Reception children. After the wonderful show, which warmed everyone’s hearts, some of our Year 6 pupils helped serve our visitors with tea, coffee and mince pies. A great time was had by all and it was a pleasure to meet our slightly older citizens.

All players will be allocated a six-a-side team, which will represent a country for the full three days. Over the three days they will take part in small-sided matches and fun competitions against the other teams to try to win points. At the end of the three days there will be a presentation, where all players will receive a CCFC medal, selection box and ticket voucher for an adult and child to attend a CCFC first team game. Trophies will also be provided for the players in the winning team. • Children of the World Production

    Tue 11 Dec 2012
What a wonderful couple of nights we had, being entertained by our Year 1 and Year 2 pupils. The singing was amazing and the children spoke their lines with confidence and expression in order to tell us about how children around the World celebrate Christmas.
There was a whistle stop tour across the continents, visiting Poland, China, Australia, Malawi, America and Ireland, whilst having the true meaning of Christmas at the heart of the production.
A massive well done to all of our talented pupils and our teachers and support staff for putting on such a brilliant show.
  • The Dassett Christmas Fayre

    Sat 08 Dec 2012

What a fabulously fun and festive evening was had by all at the Christmas Fayre last night. Opened by some lovely carol singing from The Dassett Christmas Choir, supported beautifully by Caitlin and Anna on flute, it was a lovely way to start the evening and to set the Christmas mood.

There were hot dogs and mince pies aplenty and a super range of cakes on offer. At every turn there were games from Guess where Santa is now, Name the Teddy and Lucky Dip to tombolas and raffles and the glitzy decorate a bauble stall. Father Christmas was very much in demand throughout the evening.

The books, toys and games were selling like hot cakes and the hottest cake of all, beautifully crafted and very kindly donated by Mrs Straw, was very much in demand – raffle tickets can still be bought on Tuesday and Wednesday at the Year1/2 nativity.

All this fun and a terrific fundraiser as well – an absolutely massive thank you to Helen and all of The Friends for their efforts in putting on yet another wonderful evening for us all.
