  • What the Papers are Saying!

    Sat 28 Jul 2012
Our thanks to both The Banbury Guardian and The Leamington Courier for their wonderful coverage of our most recent successes. Please see the attached if you haven't already got your copy.
  • Mercury Win the House Cup

    Thu 19 Jul 2012

Congratulations to the children in ‘Neptune’ for gaining the most house points this week and to the highest contributor of the week, Mike of Year 5 for Mercury, again! Well done Miki and well done to you all, a great effort!

An especially massive well done to everyone in Mercury for winning the House Cup and an extra playtime with their superb total of 8581 points. An excellent example of perseverance, as Mercury have not led the competition at all this year, but have kept producing consistently good results and they win in the end. A great example to us all.

  • Sports Afternoon CANCELLED

    Wed 18 Jul 2012
Alas, our sports afternoon has become the latest casualty of our 'Summer'. The field is still waterlogged, as I write this a fine drizzle is in the air and rain is forecast so we will have no opportunity for the field to dry before the end of term. It is extremely disappointing for everyone, especially Year 6; however the children's safety has to come first.
  • Delicious Delights

    Wed 18 Jul 2012
We were delighted to welcome some special guests into school to enjoy the winning meals from the ‘Design a Meal' competition on Wednesday lunchtime. Hollie (Y5), George (Y4) and Tilly S (Y2) were joined by their Mums or Dads, Reverend Mike, Gill Dodd and Rachel Brook from Warwickshire County Caterers and Deborah Lea, our chair of governors.
All of the children who had cooked lunches really enjoyed the winning entries and there were many, many children proclaiming how delicious their meals were. Well done children – I know that Gill and Rachel were very impressed with the menus, in fact they thought it was so successful that we are going to be running a competition every term starting in September.
So to all of you budding chefs out there you need to get those thinking caps on!

Do watch out for the story and pictures in The Leamington Courier and The Banbury Guardian.

  • Leavers' Assembly

    Mon 16 Jul 2012
The Year 6 pupils put on a wonderful leavers' assembly which included many memories from their time at The Dassett. It was super to hear about their favourite moments, songs learned in Reception and to hear of their proudest achievements so far. They sang songs from 'Hoodwinked ' and chose their three favourite hymns to sing. Despite some gremlins with the speakers we also had some drumming by Tristan and music from  our flautists Abi, Polly and Jamie. They were presented with a pen set and a Year book courtesy of The Friends of The Dassett. The children made everyone proud and we will miss them and wish them the best of luck at their new schools.
  • Reception Picnic

    Mon 16 Jul 2012
The weather did not stop the Reception children, parents and staff having a wonderful indoor picnic to celebrate the end of their first year at school. It was a surprise for Mrs Lester and Mrs Swanwick before their final day with us on Friday. There were cakes and dancing and much merriment.
  • The New Playground pictured in the sunshine!

    Fri 13 Jul 2012
Yes, it is true. The playground is finished, open, being used and all in glorious sunshine! Let's hope that it might bode well for the holidays.
  • The Sound Collector

    Thu 12 Jul 2012
My thanks for the emails I received from Year 3 with their interpretations of The Sound Collector by Roger McGough. Their superb work can be seen on their class page.
  • The History Project Competition Winners

The children were presented with their prizes by Gill Burgess for their exceptional work on the history project.
  • Hoorah for 'Hoodwinked' again!

    Wed 11 Jul 2012
Wow!... For the second night running. What a performance by Year 5 and 6 this evening. There were laughs and merriment, comedy, romance and drama all rolled into one. Wonderful singing and outstanding acting. Well done everyone.
And another huge well done for your singing to the Over 60s Club yesterday - they loved it.
Many more photos are featured in the Year 5 class page under Hoodwinked with many thanks to Louise Beale.
