  • The 'Carnival' Art Exhibition

    Sat 27 Feb 2016

What a wonderful Friday evening and Saturday morning. So many parents, family and children came to see the 5th of our Arts Exhibitions 'Carnival'.

The teachers came up with some amazingly creative ideas including Venetian Carnival masks in Reception, Year 1 and 2, watercolour African Carnival painting (both individual and a large class version) in Year 3, Indian Colour Run celebrations in Year 4, Poetry and masks in Year 5 and Mexican 'Dia de los Muertos' (Day of the Dead mask designs in Year 6.  An Art teacher from Kineton High School came and created 3D Toucans with some Year 2 pupils and fabulous carnival flowers and Brazilian Sun weaving were completed with some of our brilliant parents and grandparents - we are very grateful for all of this support. Our fabulous 'Under the Sea' carnival float, created by another talented parent was decorated by our pupils set the scene and looked very colourful. The Samba drumming (funded by The Friends of The Dassett) was much enjoyed by all pupils and all in all our Arts Week and Exhibition were supremely successful and another example of what makes The Dassett such an exciting place to be.

So, enough from us, let some of the visitors tell you what they thought:

This will be run by a charity called Evelyn’s Gift and there is no charge. This charity was set up in memory of a 7 year old Warwickshire school girl who died in 2013 and the training is provided in conjunction with the British Heart Foundation’s HeartStart scheme. If you would like to attend this training then please send in a note to Mrs. Hine so that she can let the course leader know numbers in advance – this is a great opportunity to learn how to save a life.
