  • HMI Progress Visit

    Sun 07 Jul 2013
On Monday 24th June, with one and a half day's notice, we welcomed Peter Limm (HMI) into the school for our monitoring visit post Inspection. He was very pleased with the actions the school has been implementing over the course of the last 18 months, and felt sure that the school was well on the way to receiving the 'good' judgement we feel it deserves. Peter's findings from this visit are in the attached letter and will be available on the Ofsted Website from 12th July.
  • An Uplifting Experience

    Wed 03 Jul 2013
Our massive thanks go to Easi Uplifts for providing us with a platform access machine yesterday afternoon to enable us to take an aerial photo of the children for the cover of Roof Off The Dassett. They very kindly agreed to bringing one into school and parking it on the school field whilst intrepid photographer Louise Beale went skyward to get the shot.
Vanessa at Easy uplifts was more than happy to get into the Community Spirit and support the school and her team were very slick in getting the 'machine' organised. We really do appreciate these local businesses supporting the school and its children.

  • What a Sporting Legacy!

    Tue 02 Jul 2013

We had an absolutely fantastic afternoon at our annual sports day.
The sprint finals for each Year Group started us off at pace and the cheers of both pupils and parents were heard throughout Fenny Compton! The children then moved into their house groups and demonstrated their skill on the rota of activities including long jump, bucket and ball, bean bag on your head, goal scoring, javelin, egg and spoon and quoit balancing. Impressive distances were thrown and jumped, accurate throwing and kicking was seen and brilliant balancing was done, as children competed against each other, winning points for their house. Mrs Cooper timed 8 minutes for each event and the Year 6 team captains were excellent at organising their team of children from Reception to Year 5, demonstrating their leadership skills, as they moved around from station to station.
The afternoon was brought to a close with a presentation ceremony for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed sprinters (names to be in this week’s ‘In Touch’) and the winning house was announced – many congratulations to Mercury!

Thank you to the teachers and teaching assistants for setting up and running the afternoon, parents and grandparents for joining us and, of course, the children for participating so superbly. It was a huge success. We hope you all enjoyed yourselves – there was a great atmosphere and the children were supporting each other and cheering each other on – that’s The Dassett spirit!

Four pages of photographs of the afternoon are available in ‘About Us/Curriculum/Enrichment Activities’, entitled ‘Sports Day 2013’.
