Woodland Trust Poe–tree Competition
Did you know the following 10 words have become much less prominent in recent years? Acorn • Ash • Blackberry • Bluebell • Catkin • Chestnut • Conker • Fungus • Holly • Violet
The Woodland Trust would love children to write a poem including all of these words so they can help to bring them back into the lives of a new generation.
The poem – called 'A Trip to the Woods' - should show all the magical things about nature, and how woods and trees make you think and feel.
Children could pay a visit to some woods first so they really feel inspired, then get creating and see what they can come up with in 100 words, ensuring that each of the above ten words has been used at least once in the poem.
