The Dassett Music Festival

I am literally bursting with pride after seeing and listening to all of our fabulous performers at last night’s music festival. They were totally amazing! The night was balmy and the hall was packed and filled with anticipation and we were not disappointed!

The choir started the evening in style and performed 4 songs (Grandfather Clock, Edelweiss [Sound of Music], A dream is a wish your heart makes [Cinderella] and Naughty [Matilda] and sang beautifully. Our recorder group, made up of some of our younger pupils, played with confidence and showed that they are already demonstrating a talent for music. We then had performances from pupils in Year 2 to Year 6 on a variety of instruments – violins, flutes, drums, guitars, piano and saxophone – and the skill and confidence of all of our children was wonderful to see. The interval brought some much needed refreshment and an opportunity to cool off and our thanks to Michelle Brierley (one of our Governors) for helping with this. The children excelled in all areas and showed that their dedication to practising their instruments really pays off. Gail Bater (singing), Nathan Anderson-Barr (drums) and Lisa Foxwell (piano) were able to join us for the evening and their support was much appreciated. There were so many positive comments at the end of this evening and we will definitely be making this an annual event! It was truly a magical and musical extravaganza!
