Mrs. Kirsten Pounds                       Reception, Religious Education

I am very much looking forward to starting your children off on their school journey. This will be my 5th year teaching at The Dassett and my 8th year teaching. I studied at the University of Gloucestershire specialising in early years teaching. My passion is teaching in reception helping the children learn through play to encourage and motivate the class.
I strongly believe in a partnership between school and home and look forward to working closely with parents.

Mrs. Samantha Moll                        Year 1, Assessment & Standards Leader, Curriculum Leader

I have worked in Years 1-6 at the Dassett, initially as a teaching assistant and now as a teacher for the past 7 years. I particularly enjoy teaching Year 1 as it is the transition from the EYFS to Key Stage 1, a key time where children develop the skills they will build on in later years. I have two children both at Kineton High School and in my spare time I like visiting the theatre, reading and travelling.

Mrs. Samantha Parkes              Year 2, SENCO/Intervention Leader, NQT Mentor,

First Aider, Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead

During my time at The Dassett I have taught Years 1-5 at various times. I have enjoyed the uniqueness of each class and seeing how children's learning develops during their time with us. I feel really lucky to work at such a wonderful school. In my free time I enjoy playing and listening to music, reading and ringing the bells at Burton Dassett church.

Mrs Natalie Collen                         Year 3, PE Curriculum and Inter-School Competition, PSHE

I am truly looking forward to my first year at The Dassett and getting to know the wonderful children in Year 3. I have previously taught across lower and upper KS2 in a large primary school. I am excited to see what different experiences will come from working in a smaller, community setting.

I particularly enjoy teaching English, as children glue together the rules that we cover through exciting topics and produce work they can be proud of.

P.E is a subject I also enjoy, as keeping fit and healthy makes us all feel great and we can have lots of fun building on our skills along the way.

In my spare time, I love nothing more than taking my scruffy little dog, Molly, for a brisk walk across the fields and spending quality time with family and friends.

Miss Rachael Williams                    Year 4, Science, Music and Student Mentor

This is my 5th year at the Dassett and I am really looking forward to teaching Year 4 again, in particular seeing how the children have moved on since I last taught them in Year 1!  My favourite subject is Science and I love seeing children develop their curiosity about the world around them. Outside of school, I love to read, spend time with friends and travel.  I also play the flute and piano in my spare time.

Ms. Jane Marsh                               Year 5 (Mon-Weds) Literacy, Humanities & School Council

I have been working at The Dassett since January 2015 and am thoroughly enjoying it. I have been teaching for around twenty five years and during that time have taught across the entire primary age range. Each year group is special in its own way and I have enjoyed all of them. I particularly enjoy teaching history and I visit places of historical interest when I get chance. I have two grown up daughters and two lively Labradors who keep me busy.

I also enjoy eating out, spending time with friends and gardening.

Mr. Kevin Young                               Year 5  (Thurs-Fri) Art/DT, Intra-School PE Competition

Prior to my appointment, I was a secondary school mathematics teacher for twenty years but I have been interested in teaching in primary school, particularly in developing mathematics, for a while now.  This year I made the decision to teach primary and, thanks to the Dassett, I have been given the opportunity to teach Year 5, the same year group that my son is in at his school.  In addition to maths, I enjoy teaching ICT, science and art. I do genuinely believe that anyone can be a mathematician when they are given the opportunity to develop their own understanding, so I am really keen to help to encourage this. In my spare time, other than trying to keep my children entertained, I personally enjoy challenging myself and have run marathons, triathlons and cycled from London to Stratford upon Avon.

Mrs. Beth Hanna                             Year 6, Maths, ICT

This will be my third year at The Dassett and my second in Year 6. I can't wait to get started with my new class in a September and look forward to helping the prepare for secondary school. It is a very busy year with lots of exciting challenges for the children. Outside of school I love being in the great outdoors - climbing and hiking are particular favourites, as well as walking my dogs and swimming with my daughter.
