At The Dassett, children are given an opportunity to learn music both within the curriculum and through extra-curricular tuition.
We are able to offer tuition on a huge array of instruments. Peripatetic music lessons are available for flute, clarinet, recorder and guitar and are through Warwickshire County Music service. Tuition fees are in line with County policy. We also have a private drum tutor and piano tutor and tuition is for pupils from year 2 to year 6. There is a charge for these lessons. There is also a free violin school that takes place weekly where children are loaned the instrument.
During the Summer Term we have musical assemblies, where our pupils perform alongside their tutors. Every child who learns an instrument is invited to participate in these, and they are open to parents and other visitors.
Each year there are four performances. At Christmas the children in Reception and Years 1-2 each present a nativity. At Easter the children in Years 3-4 present a musical play and in the summer years 5-6 present a musical play.
Also each year we have a music evening where children from every year and representing all of the many instruments perform in an evening concert.
