Welcome to Year 6
Teacher: Mrs Hanna
Teaching Assistant: Mrs Brice
Welcome to Year 6!
This half term is going to be very busy and hopefully a lot of fun.
In Literacy we are looking at several genres of writing including myths, kennings, diaries and non-chronological reports. Much of this written work will be based on our Topic this half term, which is the Vikings. We will be looking specifically at the Viking capture of York. We will be learning about the geography of Viking York, trade, housing and clothing. In science our first area of study is the circulatory system, focussing on the heart and lungs, which will lead to our work on health and diet. In maths we will be revising place value, before moving on the four operations in increasing difficulty.
Children will not require pencil cases in year 6 as we provide everything they need within the classroom. PE kits need to be in on a Wednesday and Thursday, please could these be regularly washed. Please ensure you have a water bottle in school, you need to keep hydrated.
Please keep an eye on this page as we will be adding photos of all the exciting things we get up to very soon.
If you need to contact Mrs Hanna please either pop into school or e-mail on
