Welcome to Year 3
I hope you all had a fabulous Christmas, we have lots to look forward to this term…
Get the maps at the ready as we put our geography skills to the test in our new topic, 'Earthquakes, Mountains and Volcanoes'. We will be learning what causes them to happen, where they are in our world and the impact they have on the population.
After half term, we will be travelling back in time to the 'Stone Age'. Watch this space for another exciting school trip...
In English, we will start the new year by analysing and performing 'emotive poetry'. Then we will delve into the unknown as we explore our very own 'imaginary world'. To take us up to half term we will make cross-curricular links with our topic: studying earth-shattering earthquakes and vicious volcanoes ad creating information booklets.
In Science, we will be getting hands-on as we explore the world of forces, specifically magnets. After the half term, we will be venturing outside to see how the flowers we planted in the Autumn term are getting on, as we learn all about plants and how they contribute to our world.
Along the way, we will also make cross-curricular links as we have a go at making a bubbling volcano!
We will start the new year in maths by: getting to grips with our times tables and growing confidence with rapid recall. We will then get our thinking caps on as we working on reasoning and explaining different mathematical problems, using the four operations.
Please keep an eye on this page as we will be adding photos of all the exciting things we get up to.
