VOTING OPEN FOR M&S ENERGY – £300,000 Fund for Community Energy Projects (including ours!)

M&S Energy has opened the voting stage for the M&S Energy Community Energy Fund, with up to £300,000 available to support community energy projects and technologies across the UK.

M&S were looking for innovative and inspiring projects that support the local community’s needs and hundreds applied with a shortlist now available for everyone to choose their favourite.

You can vote now at:

The public vote gives customers and community members the opportunity to get involved with the initiative and back their favourite project.

“As a 100% green energy supplier, supporting those who share our vision of a sustainable future through renewable energy is really important to M&S Energy. Following the success of last year’s competition, we’re encouraging the public to get behind their favourite community project to help give them the opportunity to generate renewable energy and become environmentally and financially sustainable.” Jonathan Hazeldine, Head of M&S Energy

The public vote is now open and closes on Friday 20th October. Please Vote Now. It costs nothing to vote and will take two minutes max.

All you need to do is visit and in the Central Region click on our project ‘Lighting up the Future’. Following on from our recently installed Solar Panels, much to the delight of all the children, we will be using this to demonstrate how the Sun is our main energy source and to educate the children by monitoring usage via a visual display and our School Eco-Committee now want to take this one stage further. By installing LED lighting throughout the school, we aim to show the children, first hand, how much energy can be saved through this system. They will then, hopefully, take this knowledge, as citizens and home owners of the future.

If all of us vote we stand a good chance but we need your support to secure this funding. At time of going to press we were in fourth place but only twenty votes behind the lead. If each parent, friends and family vote we stand a really good chance of winning this funding!

Last year project winners were awarded up to £12,500 for their projects. We have applied for £8000 which will fund the complete installation of the lighting throughout the school!
